BLAG Linux Xfce is yet another free and open source edition of the Fedora-based BLAG Linux operating system, this time built around the lightweight Xfce desktop environment and designed to be used on computers with old or semi-old hardware components and no more than 512MB of RAM.
Distributed as 64-bit/32-bit Live CDs
The Xfce edition of BLAG Linux is available for download on Softoware free of charge, distributed as two Live CD ISO images that fit well on CD discs or USB flash drives of 1GB or higher capacity and are bootable on both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers.Live CD boot menu à la Fedora
The Live CD boot menu of this special BLAG Linux flavor borrows elements from the Fedora Linux operating system, allowing you to start the live system without too much fuss. Some extra boot options, such as the ability to start the live system in safe graphics mode, running a memory test or test the bootable medium before starting the OS are also implemented in the Troubleshooting entry.Built around the Xfce desktop environment
Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment, similar with LXDE in the sense that it can be used very well on low-end systems. It provides users with a hybrid layout comprised of a panel located on the upper side of the screen and a dock (application launcher and taskbar) located on the bottom edge of the screen.Comes pre-loaded with lightweight apps
Being designed from the ground up to be as low on resources as possible, BLAG Linux Xfce includes various lightweight applications, among which we can mention Midori web browser, gFTP file transfer client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, HexChat IRC Client, Transmission torrent downloader, Sylpheed email client, Quod Liber audio player, Ex Falso audio tagger, Whaaw! media player, AbiWord word processor and Gnumeric spreadsheet editor. What is new in this release:
