BLAG Linux Mini is a special edition of the BLAG Linux operating system, derived from the Fedora Linux distribution and designed from the ground up to be used for installing the distro over the network or obtain a minimal installation that you can later customize as you see fit. Of course, this means that it comes with a very minimal set of packages and no graphical environment.
Distributed as installable-only CDs for 64-bit and 32-bit architectures
The Mini edition of BLAG Linux is distributed as installable-only ISO images that have approximately 300 MB in size and have been engineered to be fully compatible with both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.To use these ISO images, you must download via Softoware or the official website, save them on your computer and burn them onto blank CD discs with any CD/DVD burning software or write them on USB thumb drives of 512MB or higher with UNetbootin or GNOME Disks apps.
Fedora-based boot menu
Similar to other BLAG Linux editions, the Mini flavor comes with a boot menu that looks and acts like the one of the Fedora Linux operating system, designed to allow you to start the text-mode installation with normal configuration or in safe graphics mode, as well as to test the bootable medium for errors and run a system memory (RAM) diagnostic test.Installing BLAG Linux Mini
The Mini flavor of BLAG Linux has been developed for text installations by running the ‘liveinst --text’ command immediate after you log into the system. Users will be dropped to a shell prompt when booting the ISO images from the BIOS of their computer using either of the methods explained above. Use the root username to login, without a password, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the operating system on your computer.What is new in this release:
- The repo works without having to download the second version of the blag-release package.
- Replaced FVWM with Openbox.
- I've added: SoundRecorder to ensure that a recording package was available on the CD. Audacity was to large labyrinth to provide a different tool for representing information. xpad to provide quick notes
- The LXDE, MINI and XFCE CD's are available to allow you to start on the DE/WM of choice and provide smaller downloads for those who need it.
