FrozenLinux LXDE is a special edition of the open source and Debian-based FrozenLinux operating system that uses LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) as its default and only graphical desktop environment.
Distributed as a 32-bit Live CD
The LXDE edition of FrozenLinux is distributed as a single Live CD ISO image that will run well on both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms, but supports only 32-bit applications. The system can be used as-is directly from the bootable medium (CD or USB) or installed on a local disk using the graphical Live installer provided on the desktop.
Boot options
The minimal boot loader will allow the user to start the live environment with default boot options or in failsafe (safe graphics) mode, as well as to boot an existing operating system that is installed on the first disk drive.
Traditional desktop environment powered by LXDE
As mentioned, the main emphasis of this FrozenLinux edition is on the LXDE desktop environment, which provides users with a familiar and traditional graphical session, comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where you can launch apps, interact with opened programs or cycle between virtual workspaces.
Default applications
Default applications include the Xarchive archive manager, GPicView image viewer, LXTerminal terminal emulator, Leafpad text editor, PCManFM file manager, XSane image scanning program, UNetbootin bootable USB creator, BleachBit system cleaner, LXMusic music player, Remastersys Live CD/DVD creator based on Ubuntu or Debian, as well as Iceweasel web browser.
Bottom line
In conclusion, the LXDE edition of FrozenLinux is the perfect choice if you own an old, slow, obsolete and buggy computer. Now only that it will bring it to life, but it will also help you do your work better. This edition is no longer maintained by the developers of FrozenLinux. Instead, you should check out the main edition, FrozenLinux MATE.
