TurnKey ProjectPier Live CD is an open source appliance based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and designed from the ground up for people who want an easy-to-use method for deploying dedicated servers with the ProjectPier software.
ProjectPier is an open source web-based application that allows users to easily manage projects, tasks and teams through a modern and intuitive web interface. The project comes with all the necessary components for installing and running a fully functional ProjectPier instance.
It includes all of the upstream ProjectPier configurations installed by default in /var/www/projectpier, which uses dynamic root_url and the kampPro2 theme, out-of-the-box support for secure (SSL) connections, as well as the phpMyAdmin software for administering the MySQL database server.
In addition, the pre-configured Postfix mail server can be used for sending email messages to users, such as password recovery, and various Webmin modules will allow you to easily configure Apache, MySQL, Postfix and PHP.
The default username for the Webmin, Webshell, SSH and MySQL components is root. Users will be able to set up new passwords for the root (system administrator) account, as well as the MySQL 'root' account during the first boot configuration wizard.
Optionally, users can enable various TurnKey services like Backup and Migration or Domain Management and Dynamic DNS. The IP addresses and ports of the active services for this TurnKey appliance will be displayed at the end of the installation.
The project is distributed as a Live CD ISO images, as well as ready-to-use virtual machines in the OpenVZ, OVF, OpenStack, Xen and OpenNode formats. Both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) architectures are supported at this time.
From the boot prompt, users can install the operating system on a local disk drive using the text-mode installer that will require them to only partition the disk and set up the boot loader. Rebooting or shutting down the server is easy from the TurnKey Configuration Console.
