TurnKey MongoDB Live CD is an open source and freely distributed software appliance that uses the latest Linux technologies and provides users with an easy-to-use solution for deploying dedicated MongoDB servers with minimum effort.

MongoDB is a standards-based and open source, document-oriented, high-performance and scalable NoSQL database system. The appliance is based on the award winning, stable and reliable Debian GNU/Linux operating system.

It includes all of the upstream MongoDB configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/mongodb. They are tweaked to bind to all network interfaces, to enable auth by default, and to include the MongoDB PHP bindings, as well as the MongoDB Python/iPython bindings.

In addition to the above, the appliance comes with the RockMongo software, which provides users with a web-based administration front-end for easy management of MongoDB databases, installed by default in /var/www/rockmongo and powered by the Lighttpd web server.

A Postfix mail server that is bound to localhost by default is also included in this TurnKey appliance for sending email messages to users, such as password recovery. It can be easily configured via the Webmin web-based administration front-end.

The project is distributed as Live CD ISO images that can be written to USB sticks or CD discs. In addition to the Live CDs, the TurnKey MongoDB appliance is also available as VM (Virtual Machine) images for the OpenNode, OVF, OpenVZ, Xen and OpenStack virtualization technologies.

Users can easily install the operating system on the local disk drive of a computer of their choice using the CD ISO images, which are compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. The default username for the SSH and Webmin components is root, and the default MongoDB username is admin.

At the end of the installation process, which requires users to only partition the disk and choose where to install the boot loader, users will be able to enter new passwords for the root account and the MongoDB 'admin' account. Don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the active services!
