Linux Royal LTS Lite

Linux Royal LTS Lite is an open source distribution of Linux based on the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and built around the Cinnamon desktop environment. When compared with the LTS Full edition of Linux Royal, this edition comes with a minimal amount of software.

Distributed as 64-bit and 32-bit Live DVDs

The Lite edition of Linux Royal is distributed as 64-bit and 32-bit Live DVD ISO images that must be burned onto DVD discs or written on USB thumb drives of 1GB or higher capacity in order to boot them from the BIOS of the PC.

The boot loader is identical with the one used on other Linux Royal editions, allowing the user to start the live session with default settings or in safe graphics mode, run a memory test, boot an existing OS from the first disk, as well as to install the operating system without testing it (not recommended).

Beautiful and modern desktop environment powered by Cinnamon

Unfortunately, the distribution won't boot directly into the desktop environment when using the live mode. Instead, it will drop the user to a login prompt where he or she must type the "royal" username (without quotes) and hit the Enter key to login.

The beautiful and modern desktop environment is powered by Cinnamon, a fork of the GNOME 3 graphical environment. It is comprised of a single panel located on the upper part of the screen, from where the user can access the main menu, launch applications, as well as to interact with running programs and the systray functions.

Default applications include the BleachBit system cleaner, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Orca screen reader and magnifier, Synaptic Package Manager, VLC Media Player, Ubuntu Software Center, Ubuntu Tweak, Transmission torrent downloader, UNetbootin ISO image writer, Remastersys OS generator, and HotShots screen capture tool.
