TurnKey web2py Live CD is an open source distribution of Linux specifically tailored for people who want an easy method for deploying a dedicated server machine with the web2py Python framework. It is based on the Debian GNU/Linux operating system. web2py is an open source framework written in Python for rapid development of secure, scalable, portable and fast web apps.
Distributed as 32 and 64-bit Live CDs
This TurnKey edition is distributed as Live CD ISO images that can be used from CD discs or USB flash drives. Both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures are supported at this time. In addition, virtual machines for Xen, OpenStack, OpenNode, OpenVZ and OVF are available for download on the project's homepage.
Additionally, the ISO images include out-of-the-box support for SSL connections, a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages, as well as various Webmin modules for configuring MySQL, Apache and Postfix.
Includes all upstream web2py configurations
It includes all the upstream web2py configurations, which are installed by default to /var/www/web2py, the admin console is served on a secure connection thanks to the included Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and web2py applications are served with Apache and WSGI.
Getting started with TurnKey web2py Live CD
From the boot prompt, users can try the operating system without installing anything on their computers, as well as to install the distribution directly, without testing it. The default username for the Webmin, MySQL and SSH applications is root.
You can change the password for the root (system administrator) account, as well as for the MySQL 'root' account and web2py admin console from the get-go, using the first boot configuration wizard. Furthermore, you can also initialize the default TurnKey Backup, Dynamic DNS, Domain Management, and Migration services.
Don't forget to write down or memorize the IP addresses and ports for accessing the web2py web interface and shell, the SSH and SFTP accounts, as well as the Webmin and phpMyAdmin administration front-ends.
