TurnKey Joomla 1.5 Live CD is an open source operating system that provides users with a straightforward installation media for deploying dedicated Joomla! servers in no time and with minimum effort. It is based on the stable and reliable Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
Joomla! is a web-based, open source and award-winning Content Management System (CMS) software that will help anyone to build sites and other powerful online apps. As its name suggests, the appliance has been designed from the ground up to support the 1.5 branch of the Joomla! software.
Key features includes all of the upstream Joomla! 1.5 configurations, installed by default in /var/www/joomla, out-of-the-box support for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connections, a Postfix mail server that is bound to localhost and used for sendig email messages to users, such as password recovery.
In addition, the appliance comes with the powerful phpMyAdmin administration front-end for MySQL databases, which listens on port 12322 and uses SSL, as well as various Webmin modules for configuring Postfix, PHP, MySQL and Apache.
This TurnKey edition is distributed as two Live CD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (64-bit and 32-bit), as well as five virtual machine images, supporting the OpenVZ, OVF, OpenNode, OpenStack and Xen virtualization technologies.
When using this software appliance, users should keep in mind that the default username for the Webmin, phpMyAdmin, MySQL and SSH components is root, and that the default Joomla username is admin. New passwords can be set for these accounts during the first time configuration process.
The entire installation process is text-based, it takes a few minutes and requires users to only choose a partitioning scheme and where to install the boot loader. Furthermore, at the end of the first boot setup process, you will see the active services, so make sure that you write down their IP addresses and ports.
