TurnKey OrangeHRM Live CD is an open source software appliance that is based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and designed from the ground up for people who are looking for a free and painless solution for deploying dedicated OrangeHRM servers.
OrangeHRM is an open source web-based HRM (Human Resources Management) software used by more than 1 million users worldwide. The appliance features all of the upstream OrangeHRM configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/orangehrm.
It comes with the Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending automatic emails to users, such as password recovery, the phpMyAdmin software for managing the MySQL databases, various Webmin modules for configuring Postfix, MySQL, PHP and Apache, as well as support for secure connections.
Please keep in mind that the phpMyAdmin installation is tweaked to listen on port 12322 via a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection. Also, the default username for the Webmin, Postfix, MySQL and SSH components is root, and the default OrangeHRM username is admin.
This TurnKey edition is distributed as two Live CD ISO images and five virtual images. While the ISOs can be written to USB sticks using the UNetbootin or Disks applications, or burned onto CD discs using any CD/DVD burning software, the virtual images are ready to use and support the OVF, OpenVZ, Xen, OpenStack and OpenNode virtualization technologies.
It is possible to install the appliance on any computer using one of the Live CDs. While the entire installation process is text-based, it will take approximately 5 minutes and will require users to only partition the disk drive and choose where to deploy the boot loader.
After installation, you need to enter a new password for the root (system administrator) account, set up a new password for the MySQL 'root' account, as well as to add a password for the OrangeHRM 'admin' account. Whether you choose to initialize the TurnKey Hub services or not, don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the running services.
