TurnKey CouchDB Live CD is an open source distribution of Linux based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system and designed from the ground up to be used by people who are looking for a free and easy-to-use solution for deploying dedicated CouchDB servers.
CouchDB is an open source JSON-based web database software that allows you to serve applications and store your data with JSON documents. The appliance comes with CouchDB, CouchApp, iPython, and CouchDB Python bindings.
It also boasts a nginx server that has been pre-configured to use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and to proxy to CouchDB, CouchApp, CouchDB Python bindings and iPython, as well as the TurnKey Web Control panel.
This TurnKey appliance is distributed as Live CD ISO images and virtual machine images. While the Live CDs will help users to deploy the CouchDB server on any computer, the VMs are designed to deploy it on the cloud using the Xen, OpenStack, OpenVZ, OpenNode and OVF virtualization technologies.
When using this CouchDB appliance, users should keep in mind that the default username for the SSH and Webmin components is root, and the default username for CouchDB is admin. They will be able to enter new passwords for these accounts during the first boot configuration process.
The entire installation process is text-based, takes only 5 minutes, and requires users to choose a partitioning method and where to install the boot loader. Optionally, it is possible to enable the TurnKey Backup and Migration or Domain Management and Dynamic DNS services after installation.
The appliance can be managed locally using the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console, which allows you to reboot or shutdown the server, as well as to configure the network interfaces, and remotely using the SSH, SFTP, Web Shell and Webmin services (their IP addresses and ports are displayed at the end of the installation).
