Trisquel GNU/Linux Mini

Trisquel GNU/Linux Mini is an open source, free and minimal edition of the Trisquel GNU/Linux desktop-oriented operating system, which is derived from the world’s most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu. This special flavor is built around the minimal and lightweight Openbox window manager.

Supports 64-bit and 32-bit computers

At the moment, the Mini edition of Trisquel GNU/Linux is supported on both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers, distributed as Live CD ISO images that fit perfectly on CD discs or USB flash drives of 1GB or higher capacity.

Offers standard boot options

When booting either of the Live CDs from the BIOS of your computer, you will encounter a boot menu that will ask you to choose between the English or Spanish languages. Then, you will be able to try the Trisquel GNU/Linux Mini edition without installing it, start the installer directly, check the disc for defects (only if you’re booting from a CD media), perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the local drive.

The Openbox window manager is in charge of the graphical session

Being designed from the ground up to be as minimal as possible, the Mini edition of Trisquel GNU/Linux uses the Openbox window manager as its default and only desktop environment, which comprises of a traditional/familiar layout, with a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, and offers a lightweight session specially engineered for low-end computers.

Includes a minimal set of applications

As expected, and especially because the size of the ISO images are half of the size of the main Trisquel GNU/Linux edition, the Mini flavor includes a minimal set of open-source applications. Among some of the most important ones, we can mention Midori web browser, AbiWord word processor, Liferea news reader, Transmission torrent downloader, Pidgin IM client, Sylpheed email client, GNOME MPlayer video player and Xfburn CD/DVD burning tool.
