Rogue Class Linux

Rogue Class Linux is an open source, gaming-oriented distribution of Linux that features a streamlined installer and it supports joystick controls that are compatible with most of its turn-based games, puzzle games and rogue-like games. It is derived from the highly acclaimed Slackware operating system.

Available for download as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image

Users can download this Slackware-based Linux distribution as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that will run on both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers, deployable on either a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 512MB or higher capacity.

Automatic boot functionality

The Live CD ISO image will start the live environment automatically, with default boot options, from the moment it is booted from the BIOS of the PC. However, you can immediately press a key to add additional boot parameters in case you encounter hardware issues.

Old-school graphical session powered by Agar

Rogue Class Linux features no desktop environment, but only an old-school graphical user interface called Agar and designed to help users to easily launch and play their favorite rogue-like games. However, you must first configure the system by selecting a target disk.

Bottom line

At its roots, Rogue Class Linux is based on the powerful and famous Slackware Linux operating system, it uses the TCL scripting language and Agar as a GUI (Graphical User Interface) powered by Linux VESA framebuffer and SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer).

• Version 3 includes Angband, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Ivan, Multi-player Angband, Rogue, Powder, Slashem, Simon Tatham's Puzzles, Tome, TomeNet, network support, IRC chat, the links web browser, and an audio player that can play podcasts and mod music.
