ManjaroPek (also known as Manjaro PekWM Edition) is an open source distribution of Linux, a community derived Manjaro edition that uses the PekWM window manager on top of the latest upstream Manjaro version. It is designed primarily for programmers and advanced Linux users.
Distributed as Live DVDs for x86 and x86_64 platforms
You can downloaded the Manjaro PekWM Edition from Softoware or from its official website as two Live DVD ISO images of approximately 1GB in size each, which must be written on DVD discs or USB flash drives in order to boot them from BIOS of a computer. Supported architectures include 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386).
Standard boot menu that is used in all Manjaro flavors
No surprise here, as this Manjaro edition uses the same standard boot menu that is used in all Manjaro flavors, allowing the users to start the live environment with or without free drivers, boot an existing operating system from the first disk, start a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to view detailed hardware information.
Funky window manager for cool people and hipsters
The ManjaroPek’s desktop environment is powered by PekWM, a basic window manager that allows the user to highly customize it. Therefore, it features an attractive dock (application launcher) located on the bottom edge of the screen, a system monitoring widget on the desktop, as well as a top panel for quick interaction with running programs and system tray area functions.
Include some powerful open source applications
Default applications include the Thunar file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, SMPlayer video player, Claws Mail email client, HexChat IRC client, qBittorrent torrent downloader, Guayadeque music player, Geany IDE, CherryTree text editor, Catfish search tool and XTerm terminal emulator.
Bottom line
Without any doubt, this is the coolest Manjaro Linux flavor of all times. Maybe it has something to do with the desktop setup, the hipster wallpaper or the cool artwork, but it proves to be a really nice operating system for cool people and hipsters alike.
