Yandex Browser

Yandex Browser is a free, multiplatform, easy to use and attractive graphical web browser that has been designed by the popular Russian search engine, Yandex. It is derived from the Chromium web browser and uses the Blink engine to render web pages fast and clean.

Features at a glance

Being based on Chromium, the Yandex Browser application inherits most of its amazing features, which have also been implemented in other web browsers that are based on the open-source Chromium project, such as Google Chrome.

Key features include Flash Player support through Pepper Flash Player, a unique New Tab page that has a Windows 8-style interface and supports widgets for widely used web services, such as GMail or Google Calendar, a modern speed dial that gives users instant access to their favorite websites and includes various useful functions.

In addition, the software comes with a built-in keyboard layout switcher that is specifically designed for Russian-speaking users, Opera’s Turbo Mode integration for faster loading of web pages on slow Internet connections, as well as built-in text translation functionality from any language to Russian, via the Lingvo translation service.

Supports Chrome Web Store and Opera Addons

Another interesting feature is the powerful plugin architecture, which allows users to extend its default functionality by installing extensions from the Chrome Web Store and Opera Addons websites.

Supported operating systems

At the moment, the Yandex Browser for Linux is distributed as pre-built binary packages for distributions that use either of the DEB or RPM package management systems, such as Ubuntu, Debian GNU/Linux, CentOS, Pidora, openSUSE, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, supporting only 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.

In addition to Linux support, the application also runs well on the widely used Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X desktop operating systems, as well as on the popular Android and iOS mobile operating systems.
