TurnKey Movable Type Live CD is an open source software appliance that provides users with a Debian-based operating system built around the Movable Type software. It provides users with a free and painless solution for effortlessly deploying dedicated Movable Type servers.
Movable Type is an open source content publishing system that features support for multiple weblogs, categories and sub-categories, landing pages, tags, as well as an integrated file manager. The appliance comes with all the upstream Movable Type configurations and the TurnKey Web Control panel.
Key features include the phpMyAdmin administration front-end that uses SSL and listens on port 12322, a Postfix mail transfer agent bound to localhost and designed to deliver email messages to users, as well as out-of-the-box support for SSL connections.
Several Webmin modules are also available in this appliance, allowing users to easily configure the PHP, Apache, MySQL and Postfix components. The default Web Shell, Webmin, MySQL and SSH username is root.
The appliance can be downloaded from the dedicated section (see above) as Live CD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (64-bit and 32-bit), as well as ready-to-use virtual images from the project's homepage.
The virtual images are compatible with several well known virtualization technologies, including OpenStack, Xen, OVF, OpenVZ and OpenNode. You can easily install this appliance on any computer using the provided Live CDs.
To install it, boot the operating system from a CD media or a USB device, choose a disk partitioning method, format the storage drive, wait for the data to be copied to disk, and choose where to install the boot loader.
After installation, you must enter new passwords for the system administrator (root) account and the MySQL 'root' account, as well as to install available updates. It can be easily managed remotely using the SSH, SFTP, Web Shell, Webming and phpMyAdmin services, or locally using the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console.
