TurnKey Google AppEngine Python Live CD is an open source operating system based on the well known and highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system. It is designed from the ground up to act as a software appliance for deploying dedicated Google App Engine servers with minimum effort.
Google AppEngine Python SDK is an open source development framework engineered for Python developers who want to build Java web applications, which can be hosted on Google's AppEngine platform.
Key features include upstream Google AppEngine SDK configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/google_appengine, pre-configured Django AppEngine, CGI and WebApp application templates deployed on /var/www/appengine/template-*, as well as Template-Django for NoSQL.
It also features the PIL (Python Imaging Library) for AppEngine Image API, the TurnKey Web Control panel, a Postfix mail server for sending emails to users, a Webmin module for configuring Postfix MTA, and a welcome page with offline documentation and various useful information.
The appliance is available for download as Live CD ISO images, which support both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and can be used for installing the operating system on any computer. The ISO images can be easily deployed to USB flash drives or blank CD discs.
TurnKey Google AppEngine Python is also distributed as virtual machine images for OVF, OpenVZ, OpenNode, OpenStack and Xen virtualization technologies, and cloud images for the Amazon EC2 cloud computing platform.
It is also important to mention here that the Postfix mail server is bound to localhost, and the default username for the Webmin and SSH components is root. New passwords can be added right after the installation process, during the first boot configuration process.
From the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console, the user can set up network interfaces, as well as to reboot or shutdown the server. Don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the active services.
