FX64 Linux is a free and open source distribution of Linux derived from the widely used Fedora operating system, which in turn is based on the award winning Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) OS.

It’s distributed as Live DVDs

You can download the latest version of FX64 Linux via Softoware or directly from the project’s website (see link above) as Live DVD ISO images for the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers.

Boot menu à la Fedora Linux

The boot menu is identical with the one used on the ISO images of the Fedora Linux operating system. It basically allows you to start the live system with default boot options, but contains hidden functionality in the Troubleshooting section, such as the ability to run a memory test or boot from local drive.

Uses GNOME Shell for the graphical interface

The default and only desktop environment is GNOME with the controversial GNOME Shell user interface, which has not been tweaked in any way, providing users with a pure GNOME desktop experience.

Contains a wide range of software packages

FX64 Linux comes with a wide range of software packages pre-installed, among which we can mention the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, Skype VoIP client, Deluge torrent downloader, FileZilla FTP client and Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger.

In addition, the Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, XChat IRC client, LibreOffice office suite, Evince document viewer, GIMP image editor, Shotwell photo manager, Simple Scan image scanner, Gedit text editor, KeePassX password manager and Gnome Tweak Tool are also included.

It is 100% compatible with the official Fedora repos

All things considered, FX64 Linux is a cool and modern distribution of Linux that updates itself directly from the official Fedora, RPM Fusion and Adobe repositories. It can be easily installed on a local drive or used as-is directly from the bootable medium.
