The jQuery.slideshow plugin allows developers to take a collection of images and show them one by one using a simple fade effect inside a container.
Controls for next, previous, play, pause, and stop actions are included, along with a small pager at the bottom of the slideshow.
There is no support for captions or other complex transitions, but there is support for infinitely looping through the images, and even starting the slideshow on page load (a.k.a. autoplay/autostart option).
Developers can additionally customize the amount of time an image is visible in the slider's main view, and they can also build their own transition effects.
This latter operations requires some serious JS skills, so don't attempt it unless you know what you're doing.
A simple demo is included with the jQuery.slideshow plugin package.
