Voyage Linux MPD

Voyage Linux MPD is a special edition of the Debian-based Voyage Linux operating system designed for embedded systems or low-end computers, compatible with x86 (32-bit) hardware platforms, and oriented towards users who want to install a Debian system for running the MPD (Music Player Daemon) software to distribute your music collection over the network.

Features at a glance

Key features include a recent version of MPD software with Yan's real-time patch, support for USB Audio Class 2, which allows 24-bit and up to 192 Khz sample rates, support for XMOS chipsets, support for DSD playback by DoP (DSD over PCM), remote control support via LIRC, as well as a web-based interface forked from Meshlium Manager System.

The distribution is powered by the Linux 3.10.11 kernel, which includes the latest ALSA driver, and supports a wide range of embedded systems, including the Soekris 45xx, 48xx and 65xx series, Atom-based boards and ALIX/WRAP. It supports various graphical applications that can connect to a regular MPD (Music Player Daemon) server.

Distributed as a 32-bit Live CD

The MPD edition of Voyage Linux is available for download for free on Softoware, as a Live CD ISO image that supports only the 32-bit (x86) instruction set architecture. The ISO image has approximately 80 MB in size and can be deployed on either CD discs or USB thumb drives.

Boot options à la Debian GNU/Linux

While the Live CD boot menu has been engineered to automatically start the live system with normal configuration in five seconds from the moment the user boots the ISO image from the BIOS of his/her computer, you can manually start the live system in failsafe mode, as well as to perform a system memory diagnostic test or boot an existing OS from the first disk drive.
