TurnKey Ushahidi Live CD is an open source project, a Live Linux distribution based on the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux operating system and build around the Ushahidi crowdsourcing application.
Available for download as 32 and 64-bit Live CDs
This TurnKey edition is available for download as Live CD ISO images that contain the Apache, Postfix, Webmin, MySQL, phpMyAdmin and SSH open source software packages. At the moment, it supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
The Live CD ISO images can be used as-is, in demo mode, without installing anything on your computer, as well as to directly install the operating system on a local disk drive. The ISOs can be burned onto CD discs or written to USB flash drives.
Includes upstream Ushahidi configurations
The system includes upstream Ushahidi configurations that are installed to /var/www/ushahidi, out-of-the-box SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) support, phpMyAdmin for the administration of the MySQL database, Postfix mail server for sending email messages, and Webmin modules for configuring PHP, MySQL, Apache and Postfix.
Getting started with TurnKey Ushahidi Live CD
During the first boot configuration process, users will able to set the password for the root (system administrator) account, enter a new password for the MySQL 'root' account, as well as to set a new password and add an email address for the Ushahidi 'admin' account.
While the default username for Webmin, MySQL, phpMyAdmin and SSH components is root, the default Ushahidi username is admin@example.com. It is also possible to initialize the standard TurnKey Backup, Migration, Dynamic DNS and Domain Management services after the installation process.
At the end of the installation process, you will have access to the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console, which displays the IP addresses and ports for accessing the Ushahidi web interface and shell, the SSH and SFTP accounts, as well as the phpMyAdmin and Webmin administration front-ends. Furthermore, it enables users to configure the network interfaces or reboot and shutdown the server.
