TurnKey TWiki Live CD is an open source distribution of Linux that acts as an easy-to-use and configure appliance for effortlessly deploying the TWiki web-based application on dedicated server machines. It is based on the stable and reliable Debian GNU/Linux operating system. TWiki is an open source wiki system, collaboration platform, knowledge base, team portal and document or knowledge management system for enterprises.

Distributed as Live CDs and virtual appliances

The project is distributed as Live CD ISO images that contain the Apache, Postfix, Webmin, Webshell and SSH open source components. In addition to the ISO images, users can download virtual machines in the OpenStack, Xen, OpenVZ, OpenNode and OVF formats directly from the project's homepage. From the boot prompt, users can install the operating system to a local disk drive or just use the demo mode to try the appliance.

includes upstream TWiki configurations

includes upstream TWiki configurations installed to /var/www/twiki, configured cron jobs for hourly stats, daily maintenance, and notifications, and preconfigured mail settings. The webmaster email is configured in the /etc/twiki/LocalSite.cfg file.

In addition to the above, the appliance also comes with built-in support for secure connections via SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a Postfix mail transfer agent for sending email messages, as well as various Webmin modules for configuring the Postfix and Apache servers.

Getting started with TurnKey TWiki Live CD

While the default username for the Webmin, Webshell and SSH software components is root, the default TWiki username is AdminUser. Immediately after the installation, users will be able to set new passwords for the root (system administrator) account and the TWiki 'AdminUser' account.

Additionally, you must enter an email address for the TWiki 'AdminUser' account and initialize the TurnKey Domain Management, Backup, Dynamic DNS and Migration services. Using the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console, you will be able to set up network interfaces, as well as to reboot or shutdown the server.
