LinuxBBQ Bloat is a special edition of the Debian-based LinuxBBQ operating system that includes a minimal desktop environment powered by the Openbox window manager and a very minimal set of open source applications. It is suitable for low-end computers!
Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live CDs
This LinuxBBQ edition can be downloaded via Softoware or directly from its official website (see link above) as two Live CD ISO images, one for each of the supported architectures (64-bit and 32-bit). You must write these ISO images to CD discs or USB flash drives in order to boot them from the BIOS of a PC.Boot options
From the boot menu of the Live CDs, the user can start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, as well as to copy the contents of the ISOs to RAM, or use the nomode, VGA and i915 (for Intel video cards) options. It’s also possible to run a memory test or boot from the local drive.Minimal, yet eye-candy desktop environment powered by Openbox
As mentioned, Openbox is in charge of the desktop environment of LinuxBBQ Bloat. It features a very clean and simple graphical interface where you must right-click anywhere on the desktop to access the main menu and launch applications.Minimal set of open source applications
As expected, this minimal version of the LinuxBBQ operating system comes with a minimal set of open source applications, among which we can mention UXTerm terminal emulator, Midnight Commander twin-panel file manager, Ncdu disk usage analyzer, Roaster browser, nano and Leafpad text editors. In addition, the distro include various in-house built LinuxBBQ tools, such as bbqusb to copy ISO to USB, bbqradio-gui, bbqtv, bbqget to download third-party applications, and roastyourown package selector.
