x9wm Linux is a stable vanilla distro that features a complete and fully integrated x9wm window manager, including the all-new instant "one-click to anything" menus. It is based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system.

Available for download as 32-bit/64-bit Live DVD/CD images

This custom Debian-based operating system can be downloaded via Softoware or directly from its official homepage (see link above) as a 64-bit (amd64) Live CD ISO image or approximately 600MB in size and a 32-bit (i686) Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size.

Boot options

The boot menu is quite standard for a Debian-based distribution, allowing the user to start the live environment with default boot options or in failsafe mode, as well as start the installer directly (graphical or text mode) to permanently install the distro on a local drive.

From the Advanced options boot entry, the user can access the Hardware Detection Tool (HDT) to view detailed information about each hardware component of his or her computer.

Fast and minimal desktop environment only for experienced users

As mentioned the default and only desktop environment of this distribution is powered by the x9wm window manager, which we have to admit that it is pretty weird for regular users and can only be used by experienced users, programmers, hackers, as well as developers who like minimalistic window managers. Please note that the password for the Live media is 'live'.

Includes over 300 open source applications

It includes over 300 applications, among which we can mention the LibreOffice office suite, GIMP image editor, OpenShot video editor, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, RecordMyDesktop desktop session recorder , EtherApe network monitor, Leafpad text editor, GParted partition editor, and VLC Media Player.

Bottom line
