Wolfer Linux is a distribution of Linux designed from the ground up to be used by people who are desperately looking for an open source alternative to commercial operating systems like Microsoft Windows.

It’s available for download as a 32-bit Live DVD

The distro can be easily downloaded from its official website or via Softoware (click the download button above for direct links) as a 32-bit Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size.

It features a very basic, automatic boot prompt

It features a very basic boot prompt that has been instructed to start the live system in a few seconds from the moment the user boots the Live DVD from the BIOS of a PC, using either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive.

No other options are provided on the boot prompt, in order to not confuse the new Linux user with advanced boot options and other functions. just press Enter if you’re in a hurry, when you see the boot loader.

It uses a highly customized GNOME Classic desktop environment

Believe it or not, the default desktop environment used in Wolfer Linux is built around GNOME 2 (also known as GNOME Classic). It provides users with a familiar interface that comprises of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen and a very handy main menu.

There are many useful applications pre-installed in Wolfer Linux

Default applications include the GIMP image editor, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Vuze P2P file sharing client, Gwibber social networking client, Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger client, Evolution email and calendar client, LibreOffice office suite, Audacious audio player and VLC Media Player.
