TurnKey MindTouch Core Live CD (formerly known as TurnKey Deki Live CD) is an open source and free software appliance that uses the stable and reliable base of the powerful Debian GNU/Linux operating system to provide users with an easy-to-use solution for deploying dedicated MindTouch servers.
MindTouch Core (previously known as Deki) is an open source, web-based wiki, collaboration and mashup platform used by millions of users worldwide. The appliance comes with all of the upstream MindTouch Core (Deki) configurations.
Key features include support for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connections, the phpMyAdmin administration front-end for easy management of MySQL databases, a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages to users, which listens on port 12322 and uses SSL.
Furthermore, this appliance, which is no longer updated by TurnKey, includes various Webmin modules for configuring Apache, MySQL, Postfix and PHP. It is available for download as two Live CD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware platforms (64-bit and 32-bit).
In addition to the Live CDs, you can download virtual machine images from the project's website (see above). They are fully compatible with the OpenStack, Xen, OVF, OpenVZ and OpenNode virtualization technologies.
It can be easily installed on a wide range of computers using the Live CD ISO images, which can be burned onto CD discs or written to USB flash drives. The entire installation process is text-based and requires users to only partition the disk and choose where to install the bootloader.
When installing this TurnKey appliance, users need to keep in mind that the default username for the Webmin, SSH, Webshell and MySQL components is root, and the default MindTouch Core (Deki) username is admin.
At the end of the installation, the first boot configuration wizard will kick in, allowing users to set new passwords for the above accounts, as well as to initialize various TurnKey Hub services. Don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the SSH, SFTP, phpMyAdmin, Web Shell and Webmin services.
