TAS OS

TAS OS is an open-source distribution of Linux derived from the world’s most popular operating system, Ubuntu, and designed from the ground up to be as simple, secure, reliable and easy-to-use as possible.

It supports only 32-bit applications

The operating system can be downloaded as a single Live DVD ISO image of approximately 1GB in size, deployable on either 32-bit (i386) or 64-bit (x86_64) computer platforms.

The user must burn the ISO image onto a DVD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or write it on a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

The distro can be installed or used as-is from the bootable medium

From the boot menu, the user can try the operating system without installing it, start the installer directly, check the disk for defects, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing OS that is currently installed on the local drive.

Uses an old-school graphical desktop environment powered by GNOME Classic

The distro uses an old-school graphical desktop environment that is powered by the GNOME Classic interface. It uses a two-panel layout and the Adwaita theme. The panels are black.

Includes a standard set of open-source applications

Default applications include the GIMP image viewer, Inkscape vector graphics editor, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, LibreOffice office suite, Chromium and Mozilla Firefox web browser, Deluge torrent downloader, VLC Media Player, as well as the Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client.

In addition, the Gwibber social networking client, Remmina remote desktop client, Pidgin and Empathy multi-protocol instant messenger client, Bluefish HTML editor, jEdit text editor, Clementine audio player and Avidemux video editor are also included.

A great distribution of Linux, but based on an old Ubuntu release

Summing up, TAS OS is a really great distribution of Linux, but it is based on an old, unsupported Ubuntu release.
