Xfburn is an open source piece of software that provides users with a highly efficient and modern graphical application for burning CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs on any GNU/Linux operating systems.

The project has been designed from the ground up to be deployed on the well known Xfce desktop environment. It is actually distributed as part of the Xfce project and found pre-installed on a wide range of lightweight Linux distros.

Features at a glance

Key features include the ability to burn ISO images, blank CD-RW, DVD+/-RW and BD-RE discs, create ISO images, create Audio-CDs, as well as to create data discs to either CD, DVD or Blu-ray media.

It boasts a familiar, user-friendly graphical interface written with the help of the GTK+ toolkit. It’s comprised of four main buttons that allow users to quickly burn images, blank discs, write data composition, and create Audio CDs.

Offers a minimal and intuitive user interface

From the File menu, users will be able to create new data or audio compositions, as well as to close the current composition or exit the application. While the Edit menu allows users to access the preferences dialog, the Actions one will let them blank rewritable discs or burn prepared compilations.

The minimal user interface can be customized from the View menu, simply by adding toolbar and file browser components right above the main four buttons described above. It is also possible to refresh the current file browser.

The Preferences dialog lets users to choose a different temporary directory, as well as to enable automatic cleaning on exit, enable viewing of hidden files and human readable filesizes, scan for devices, and set the FIFO buffer size in KB.
