SparkyLinux CLI is a special edition of the Debian-based operating system called SparkyLinux that features no graphical desktop environment and has been designed from the ground up to be used for system rescue tasks.

Supports 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms

The CLI (Command-Line Interface) edition of SparkyLinux can be downloaded as Live CD ISO images for the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms. Keep in mind that you will have to write this ISO images to either a USB thumb drive or CD disc in order to boot them from the BIOS of a PC.

Boot options

The Live CDs use the same minimalistic boot menu that is found in all other SparkyLinux editions, allowing you to start the live environment with default drivers or in failsafe mode, check the computer’s memory for errors, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk.

Usable only via the command-line interface

As mentioned, this is a special SparkyLinux edition that is usable only via the command-line interface. It features no graphical desktop environment and it allows the advanced user to rescue broken operating system or recover lost data from damaged hard disk drives.

In addition, the user can use this operating system to build his/her own customized distribution of Linux based on SparkyLinux, which in turn is based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux distro.

Bottom line

Summing up, the CLI edition of SparkyLinux provides users with a free, fast, simple and open source Linux distribution specifically designed for system administrators who are looking for a Debian-based system rescue CD.

It provides support for most mobile and wireless network cards. Do not hesitate to check out some of the other SparkyLinux editions, with the Xfce, KDE, Trinity, GNOME, LXDE or Enlightenment desktop environments, all of them available for download on Softoware.
