QupZilla is an open source web browser software, similar to the Mozilla Firefox application, but based on QtWebKit, a Qt port of the WebKit web browser engine. It supports all major platforms, including Linux, Windows and Mac.

Offers a fast web browsing experience

It is quite new, lightweight and provides users with a fast web browsing experience in part driven by the fact that its GUI (Graphical User Interface) is almost identical with the one used by Mozilla on their Firefox web browser. By default, the application includes an ad blocker, a RSS reader, a history manager, a download manager, a bookmarks manager, a cookies manager, a search box, and a web inspector.

Supports Firefox, Chrome and Opera bookmarks

The program allows users to easily import their bookmarks from Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or a HTML file. Support for private browsing is also implemented, as well as the handy Do Not Track functionality in case you want to hide yourself from pesky websites. Even if the Preferences dialog is different from the one implemented in the Mozilla Firefox web browser, it contains almost the same options and categories of settings, including Tabs, Privacy, and Password Manager.

Comes with a powerful plugin architecture

It is bundled with several extensions, such as Mouse Gestures, GreaseMonkey, PIM, StatusBar Icons, GNOME Keyring Passwords, and Access Keys Navigation. In addition, a WebKit plugin is also implemented, called Click to Flash, but users can add more via the Extensions tab in the Preferences dialog. Another interesting feature is the native notification functionality, especially for Linux-based operating systems. Furthermore, QupZilla provides users with the ability to change keyboard shortcuts, fonts, themes, and many other aspects of the application.

We said it before, and we'll say it again: Mozilla Firefox is our favorite web browser here at Softoware. Because of this, and because of the fact that QupZilla is very similar to Firefox, we recommended this app to all users who are looking for a lightweight, powerful and fast web browser.
