PCLinuxOS Xfce is an open source Linux operating system built around the Xfce desktop environment. It’s an unofficial flavor of the well known PCLinuxOS distribution, designed for productivity.
Distributed as a 64-bit Full and Mini Live ISOs
It is distributed as two ISO images, Full and Mini, that support any type of computer running on a 64-bit processor. The boot mediums allow users to start the live environment with or without the boot splash, use the safe graphics mode, safe boot mode, drop to a shell prompt, and copy the entire ISO image to RAM (at least 2GB are required).
Uses the Xfce desktop environment
In order to log into the desktop environment, users will need to use either root/root or user/user username and password combinations. However, new live sessions will automatically login users as guests. The Xfce desktop environment is used by default and boasts a traditional layout comprised of a two panels, one located on the bottom edge of the screen and another one on the upper part of the screen.
Includes a wide range of useful applications
This PCLinuxOS flavor includes many attractive applications, such as the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email client, Pidgin instant messenger, VLC Media Player, Transmission BitTorrent client, XChat IRC client, GIMP image editor, Mousepad text editor, Clementine audio player, and ISO Master ISO editor.
In addition, it includes the official Dropbox client, the Xfburn utility for writing CD/DVD discs, File Roller archiving utility, BleachBit system cleaner, Bulk Rename, FSlint, GNOME Commander, searchMonkey, Shutter screenshot utility, and Thunar as the default file manager.
Synaptic Package Manager is also installed if you want to add, remove or update applications. The distribution provides built-in support for reading and writing on NTFS filesystems, manage removable devices, as well as several printers.
A pretty stable and reliable computing environment
This PCLinuxOS edition provides a pretty stable and reliable computing environment that can be deployed on low-end machines and computers with old hardware components. Please note that PCLinuxOS 64 Xfce is a community edition, not officially supported by the PCLinuxOS maintainers.
