MinePeon is an open source and freely downloadable Linux kernel-based operating system initially designed for the Raspberry Pi computer board to be used for mining Bitcoin. It is derived from the powerful, customizable and lightweight Arch Linux distribution.

Optimized for the ARM architecture

MinePeon's goal is to be a small, low on resources and robust Bitcoin mining operating system for the USB FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) mining devices. It is optimized for the ARM architecture.

Runs on Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone Black

The MinePeon operating system is distributed in two editions, as compressed img files, supporting all editions of the Raspberry Pi device, as well as the low-cost BeagleBone Black community-supported development platform.

Getting started with MinePeon

To use the MinePeon distribution on your favorite ARM device (see the section above for supporting devices), first download the latest release of the operating system from its website or from Softoware using the dedicated download section above.

Save the ~400 MB zip archive on your Desktop folder or Home directory and unzip it using your favorite archive manager utility. The final result will be an IMG image file, which fits perfectly on a 2GB SD card.

This Arch Linux-based operating system contains a basic Apache web server, PHP and cgminer API setup. Visiting http://ip.of.your.peon will give you instant access to the miner.php and api-example.php.
