HandyLinux Compiz is yet another special edition of the HandyLinux operating system, this time mixing the lightweight Xfce desktop environment with beautiful Compiz effects. It’s an open source Live distribution of Linux based off of Debian GNU/Linux.
The OS has been optimized for 32-bit hardware
While it will run on 64-bit computers, the Compiz edition of HandyLinux has been optimized for 32-bit hardware platforms, supporting the i686 and i486 instruction set architectures. It’s distributed as two Live DVD ISO images of approximately 1GB in size each.
It’s a dual language Live operating system
HandyLinux is a dual language Live operating system, supporting French and English languages. From the Live DVD boot menu, the user can choose to start the live system with default settings or in failsafe mode, as well as to start the graphical installer directly.
Designed for new Linux users
The HandyLinux distribution is well known for being user-friendly, designed for new Linux user who want to switch from Microsoft Windows to an open source operating system. It will prompt users to a welcome screen from where they can learn how to access various functions.
It’s pretty much identical with the main HandyLinux edition
This Compiz flavor is pretty much identical with the main HandyLinux edition, providing users with a traditional Xfce desktop environment, but using beautiful Compiz effects. Keep in mind though, that you must have a 3D-compliant graphics card to see the desktop effects.
Comes pre-loaded with dozens of apps
There are many useful applications and utilities included in HandyLinux Compiz, which means that users will be able to surf the Internet, access their Facebook profiles, watch YouTube videos, read or write emails, communicate with friends and family, view images, watch movies, listen to music, write office documents, scan documents, write CDs and DVDs, as well as to play board games.
