Dynebolic GNU/Linux (also known as dyne:bolic GNU/Linux) is an open source operating system derived from the Debian/Ubuntu Linux distributions and designed to be used on computers with old and semi-old hardware components.

It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The dyne:bolic Linux operating system is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image, which means that it will run well on computers that support both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures. It has approximately 2GB in size and it’s deployable on either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity.

Features three different live modes

When booting the ISO image from the BIOS of a PC, the user will encounter a boot menu that features three different live modes: normal, failsafe and volatile. In addition, you will be able to perform a system memory (RAM) diagnostic test.

The default password for the Live CD is luther

A welcome screen will prompt users immediately after the graphical desktop environment has been completely loaded into memory, informing them that the default password for the live system is “luther” (without quotes). The interface is simple and fast, comprised of a panel located on the upper side of the screen.

Contains a great software selection

Among the preinstalled applications, we can easily mention the IceCat web browser, GIMP image editor, Blender 3D modeller, AbiWord word processor, Bluefish HTML editor, Sylpheed email client, XChat IRC client, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, as well as the Xfe file browser.

In addition, it comes with the LiVES, Kino and Cinelerra video editing apps, ReZound and Audacity audio editors, TerminatorX, SoundTracker, PD and GDam tools for live audio, pyNeightborhood filesharing app, MuSE audio mixer and streamer, Mp4Live video streamer, and XRmap CIA factbook and world geography browser.
