Bitnami CiviCRM Module is a multi-platform and freely distributed software project that provides modules for installing the CiviCRM application on top of the Bitnami LAMP, MAMP and WAMP Stacks, which run on the GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems respectively.

What is CiviCRM?

CiviCRM is an open source, free and platform-independent CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application for the non-profit and non-governmental sectors. Highlights include integration with the world’s most popular CMS systems, including WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal, as well as support for managing communications, events, contacts, advocacy campaigns and fundraisers.

Installing Bitnami CiviCRM Module

Bitnami’s native installers have been created with the BitRock InstallBuilder tool and are designed to automate the setup of web-based applications on mainstream operating systems and platforms.

To install CiviCRM on top of your existing Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) or MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stacks, you will have to download the file that corresponds to your stacks arch (32-bit or 64-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions.

Run CiviCRM in the cloud or in VMware/VirtualBox

In addition to installing CiviCRM on your personal computer, you will be able to run it on your own cloud hosting platform or on the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting services, thanks to Bitnami’s pre-build cloud images, as well as to run it in the VMware ESX, ESXi and VirtualBox virtualization software, by using the Ubuntu-based virtual appliance.

The Bitnami CiviCRM Stack and Docker container

Besides the Bitnami CiviCRM Module product reviewed here, you can also download an all-in-one solution that greatly simplifies the installation and hosting of the CiviCRM application, as well as of its runtime dependencies, on real hardware, called Bitnami CiviCRM Stack, which can be downloaded for free on Softoware. Additionally, a CiviCRM Docker container will also be provided on the project’s homepage.
