64 Studio Live is an open source and completely free desktop-oriented operating system built around a collection of software packages targeted at digital content creation. It is a Live edition of 64 Studio derived from the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
It’s distributed as 32-bit/64-bit Live CDs
The Live edition of 64 Studio is available for download as 32-bit and 64-bit Live CDs, which means that you can run the operating system without installing it on both old and modern computers.
How to use the Live CD without installing it
The best part of a Live Linux distribution is the fact that it won’t require you to install it in order to use it. Download the ISO image that corresponds to your computer’s architecture, burn it onto a blank CD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or write it on a USB thumb drive using UNetbootin or GNOME Disks, and then boot it from the BIOS of the PC.
Uses GNOME Classic with a single-panel layout
The default graphical session of the 64 Studio Live OS is built around the GNOME Classic desktop environment, which uses a single-panel layout. The panel also acts as a taskbar and allows you to interact with running programs, cycle between virtual workspaces, as well as to launch applications using the main menu.
Some of the best multimedia-oriented applications are pre-loaded
Being designed from the ground up to be used for digital content creation, the operating system includes some of the best multimedia-oriented applications, among which we can mention Audacity, Fmit Tuner, FreeWheeling, JackEQ, Aeolus, amSynth, JAMin, Meterbridge, Oscilloscope, QSampler, QSynth and ZynAddSubFX.
