js-autosuggest works by reading data from a local JSON file and using it as the available suggestions in the dropdown panel shown every time users type inside a designated field.
The component was specifically built for powering search engines, so each available suggestion is also tied to an URL.
This means that whenever the user selects one of the available suggestions, he'll automatically be redirected to that link.
js-autosuggest also has some customizable options available as the plugin's parameters. These include the location of the JSON data file, the ability to highlight the matching search term in the suggestion list, and the minimum number of characters required to start a search.
A fully-working demo is included with the download package.
