TurnKey LAMP Live CD is an open source software appliance that delivers one of the most simple and straightforward solution for deploying dedicated servers with the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) web stack.

LAMP Stack is an open source web platform that includes the Apache web server, MySQL database, and the PHP server-side programming language, to help users run dynamic websites and servers. LAMP uses MySQL as opposed to LAPP, which uses PostgreSQL.

Key features include out-of-the-box SSL support, the phpMyAdmin software for easy administation of MySQL databases, a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages to users, as well as Webmin modules for configuring MySQL, Apache, PHP and Postfix.

In addition, it comes with Perl, PHP and Python support for the Apache and MySQL servers, and the XCache  PHP accelerator. The default username for the MySQL, Webmin, SSH and phpMyAdmin compoennts is root.

The appliance is distributed as Live CD ISO images, which can written to USB thumb drives or CD discs, and used for installing the LAMP server on 32-bit or 64-bit machines. In addition to the Live CDs, users can download ready-to-use virtual machine images from the project's homepage, supporting the Xen, OpenNode, OVF, OpenStack and OpenVZ virtualization technologies.

The entire installation and post-install configuration processes are text-based and take a few minutes, allowing users to partition the disk drive, install the boot loader, as well as to set up new passwords for the root (system administration) and MySQL 'root' accounts.

Optionally, it is possible to enable two different TurnKey Hub services, Backup and Migration or Domain Management and Dynamic DNS during the first boot configuration process. The server can be administered locally via the TurnKey Linux Configuration Console, or remotely via SSH, SFTP, Web Shell, Webmin and phpMyAdmin services.
