TurnKey CakePHP Live CD is an open source software appliance specifically designed for people who are looking for an easy-to-use, multi-language and free solution for deploying dedicated CakePHP servers with minimum effort. It is based on the award winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system.
CakePHP is an open source PHP web application framework inspired by Ruby on Rails, and designed to help PHP developers to build web applications faster, simpler, and with less code. The appliance comes with all of the upstream CakePHP configurations, which are installed in /var/www/cakephp.
It also comes with the phpMyAdmin software for easy management of MySQL databases, out-of-the-box support for secure connections using the latest SSL specifications, as well as TurnKey Web Control panel, which includes CakePHP checks, links to handy references, and useful path information.
In addition, the appliance includes a Postfix MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) for sending email messages to users, such as password recovery, as well as various Webmin modules for configuring PHP, Apache, MySQL and Postfix.
When using this appliance, the user should keep in mind that the phpMyAdmin administration front-end listens for incoming connections on port 12322 using SSL, the Postfix mail server is bound to localhost, and the default username for the SSH, MySQL, Webmin and phpMyAdmin components is root.
This TurnKey appliance is available for download as two Live CD ISO images, which have been engineered to allow users to try the operating system without installing anything on their computers (mostly to view how the first boot configuration and TurnKey Linux Configuration Control wizards look like).
In addition to the Live CDs, TurnKey offers several virtual machine images for the OpenStack, Xen, OVF, OpenNode and OpenVZ virtualization technologies. Please keep in mind that while the Live CDs are supported on both 64-bit and 32-bit architectures, the VMs only run on amd64 hardware platforms.
