Sage Live CD is an open source and completely free distribution of Linux derived from the minimalist and highly acclaimed Puppy Linux operating system and built around the Sage mathematics software system. It features a lightweight graphical desktop environment and various utilities.
It’s available for download as a dual-arch Live CD
As its name suggests, Sage Live CD is distributed as a Live CD ISO image, which has been designed to be used on computers that support both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures.
It can be used from a CD or USB media
The operating system can be used directly from a CD disc or USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity, which can be booted from the BIOS of a computer. You can use any CD/DVD burning software to burn the ISO image onto a CD disc, as well as UNetbootin or GNOME Disk Utility (Disks) to write it on a USB stick.
Uses a lightweight graphical desktop environment
As mentioned, the distribution contains the entire Sage mathematics software system as well as all of its dependencies, but on top of a lightweight desktop environment that uses a single-panel layout.
You can now use Sage straight from a Live CD
With Sage Live CD, anyone can try the Sage mathematics software system without installing it. It doesn’t matter if your current operating system is Microsoft Windows or another Linux system, the Live CD won’t install anything on your PC’s disk drive.
Sage is one of the best mathematical applications for GNU/Linux
Sage is an open source mathematical software package that combines several tools like Maxima, Numpy and R. It features direct LaTex export and can be used to solve mathematical problems, starting from high school level up to top research level.
