PCLinuxOS Xfce Base Community Remaster is the second of two community-derived flavors of the highly acclaimed PCLinuxOS operating systems built around the lightweight and fast Xfce graphical desktop environment.
It’s distributed as 32-bit/64-bit Live CDs
The main different between PCLinuxOS Xfce Community Remaster and PCLinuxOS Xfce Base Community Remaster, is that the latter comes as Live CD ISO images, which fit perfectly on CD discs or USB thumb drives of 1GB or higher capacity. Both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms are supported at this time.Boot menu à la PCLinuxOS
Just like the PCLinuxOS Xfce Community Remaster operating system, this Base edition inherits the Live CD boot menu of the PCLinuxOS distribution, allowing users to try the project without installing anything on their computers. It can also be used as a rescue CD and includes advanced boot options.Xfce looks identical with the the one from the main edition
As usual, you must choose a keyboard layout before you can access the graphical session, which is powered by the Xfce desktop environment, which looks identical with the one of the main PCLinuxOS Xfce Community Remaster edition. It uses a productive, classic layout comprised of two panels with lots of handy applets.Includes a minimal set of open-source software projects
The second difference between PCLinuxOS Xfce Base Community Remaster and PCLinuxOS Xfce Community Remaster is that the former includes a minimal set of open-source software projects. Unfortunatelly, it doesn't include essential apps, such as a web browser, email client, torrent downloader or multimedia player.Among the pre-installed applications, we can mention the gFTP file transfer client, BleachBit system cleaner, XSane image scanner, Mousepad text editor, as well as Synaptic Package Manager, from where you can install additional software packages or update existing ones.
