PCLinuxOS FullMonty

PCLinuxOS FullMonty is an open source distribution of Linux based on the deprecated Mandriva Linux operating system. It uses the KDE Plasma Workspaces and Applications project as its default desktop environment.

The main edition of PCLinuxOS also features the KDE desktop environment, so many of you might ask what exactly is this KDE FullMonty flavor. Therefore, we can report that it’s a regular PCLinuxOS KDE edition that features special desktop layouts and a huge collection of applications and drivers.

Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs

It is distributed as two Live DVD ISO-hybrid images that can be written to either USB thumb drives or blank/RW DVD discs. Both 64-bit and 32-bit hardware platforms are supported at this time.

Recommended system requirements include a modern Intel or AMD 64-bit/32-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 20GB free disk space, a Intel, Nvidia or ATI Radeon 4000 or better graphics card, any Intel HDA, Sound Blaster or AC97 compatible sound card, as well as a CD/DVD-ROM device.

Boot options

From the boot prompt, users can start the live environment with default settings, without boot splash, in safe graphics mode, or using failsafe mode. In addition, you will be able to copy the entire Live DVD to RAM (over 4GB of system memory is recommended) and install the distribution without testing it (not recommended).

Features six different layouts

The desktop session features six different setups, including Internet (default one), Office, Games, Multimedia, Graphics, and System. Each one is carefully designed to please its target audience.

Default applications

Default applications include the Google Chrome, Rekonq and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, Mozilla Thunderbird email client, FileZilla file transfer client, Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger, Transmission and KTorrent torrent downloader, Skype VoIP client, Google Earth, and many more others.
