LliureX Music

LliureX Music is a special edition of the LliureX Linux operating system designed to be used for music production tasks, including editing of audio files, listening to your favorite tracks, write music scores, as well as to learn how to create music. It is based on Edubuntu and features the GNOME desktop environment.

Distributed as 64-bit and 32-bit Live DVDs

The Music edition of LliureX Linux is distributed as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported architectures (64-bit/amd64 and 32-bit/i386). You must write these ISO image to USB flash drives or DVD discs in order to boot them from the BIOS of a computer.

Boot options

The Live DVDs have been engineered to automatically start the live environment with default boot options. If you want to access the boot menu, press any keyboard key immediately after the ISO image booted.

From the boot menu, you will be able to start the graphical installer and perform a fresh installation of the operating system, boot an existing OS from the first disk, start a memory diagnostic test, as well as to check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a DVD disc).

Familiar and easy to use desktop environment powered by GNOME

Being based on the main LliureX edition, this flavor features the same graphical desktop environment, powered by GNOME. It comprises of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen from where you can launch applications or interact with opened programs.

Includes a handful of music-oriented applications

We have to admit that we’ve expected to see a lot more music-oriented applications in this distribution, but apparently it only include the Audacious and Rhythmbox music players and organizers, MuseScore music composition and notation software, Audacity audio editor, Hydrogen drum machine, as well as a HDSP mixer.

Bottom line

In conclusion, the Music edition of LliureX is actually a lite LliureX Music edition, as the developers also provide users with a Pro edition of this distribution, which includes more open source applications designed for music production.
