ASRI Edu Profs

ASRI Edu Profs is a special edition of the educational ASRI Edu operating system based on Puppy Linux and built around the minimal IceWM window manager, specifically designed to be used by teachers in educational institutions. The default language is French.

Available for download as a dual-arch Live CD

This special ASRI Edu edition is available for download as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image of approximately 300MB in size, deployable on either a 32-bit (i386) or 64-bit (x86_64) computer. Keep in mind though, that you must write the ISO image to a CD disc or a USB flash drive of 512MB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

Boot options

The boot prompt is identical with the one of the ASRI Edu Kids edition, allowing the user to start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, use the live session from RAM, boot an existing Window operating system, as well as to reboot or shutdown the PC.

Minimal and lightweight desktop environment powered by IceWM

Being based on Puppy Linux, this custom ASRI Edu edition uses a customized IceWM window manager specifically tailored for teachers who are looking for a fast and responsive desktop environment where everything is ready to be used without having to configure anything.

Includes a plethora of open source educational apps

ASRI Edu includes many applications, among which we can mention LibreOffice, Mozilla Firefox, XAMPP, Apache OpenOffice, Mozilla Thunderbird, Midnight Commander, Java Runtime Environment, Fotoxx, FileZilla, Omnitux, Scribus, XnViewMP, XnConvert, Opera, Google Earth and Audacity.

Bottom line

In conclusion, the Profs edition of ASRI Edu includes packages and applications that are fully compatible with the Kids edition of ASRI Edu, as well as documentation related to the Puppy Linux operating system and information on puplets.
