ADHD

ADHD (Active Defense Harbinger Distribution) is an open source Linux operating system based on the Ubuntu distribution and fully packed with many pre-installed and pre-configured tools aimed at active defense.

Available for download as a dual-arch Live DVD

The distribution can be downloaded from its official website or via Softoware as a single, dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 2GB in size, engineered to support both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) hardware platforms.

Please note that you must burn the ISO image to a blank DVD disc using any CD/DVD burning software or write it on a USB flash drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

Standard boot loader

The boot loader of the Live DVD is pretty standard, allowing the user to start the live environment with default boot options or in safe graphics mode, perform a system memory test, boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive, as well as to start the installer directly.

Simple and easy to use graphical desktop environment powered by Xfce

Xfce is in charge of the graphical session inside ADHD, providing users with a simple and easy-to-use desktop environment that comprises of a top panel for quick access to pre-installed applications or interacting with running programs.

Default applications

Default application include GIMP image editor, LibreOffice office suite, gmusicbrowser image viewer, Xfburn CD/DVD burning software, Rhythmbox music player, Parole media player, Synaptic Package Manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client and Transmission torrent downloader.

Bottom line

With ADHD, defenders will have all the necessary tools to "strike back" at the bad guys, those who want to attack your system(s) or network. It allows users to interfere with the attackers' maneuvers and even to compromise his/her systems.
