Pisi Linux is an open source Linux operating system built around the KDE desktop environment and based on the Pardus Linux distribution. The system is virus-free and the installation process takes about 30 minutes.
Distributed as a 64-bit Live DVD
It is distributed as a single DVD ISO-hybrid image that can only be installed on a local disk drive, thanks to the included graphical installer. It only supports the 64-bit hardware platform.
The distribution can be installed on any computer that uses a 64-bit processor, at least 2GB of RAM and 12 GB of disk space. While the Pisi Linux developers recommend to use the “Manual partitioning” during installation, we don’t suggest to do so.
Boot options
The boot medium can be used to rescue a broken system, start an existing operating system, run a memory test, and view detailed hardware information. In addition, experienced users can use it to add specific kernel parameters.
After installation, Pisi Linux welcomes you with a wide range of applications. If you don't find your favorite software, you can always find dozens of packages via the included software center app.
Uses the modern KDE desktop environment
As mentioned, the live session is powered by the modern and eye-candy KDE desktop environment, which is comprised of a single taskbar located at the bottom edge of the screen and used for launching applications, switch virtual workspaces, and interact with running apps.
Default applications
Default applications include the Chromium and Mozilla Firefox web browsers, LibreOffice office suite, Amarok and Clementine music players, GIMP image editor, and K3b CD/DVD burning software.
At the moment, Pisi Linux is translated into 14 languages, including English, German, Dutch, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, French, Italian, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Swedish, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Bottom line
It is a very fast and modern Linux distribution that can be used by anyone as their only operating system, especially because of the beautifully crafted KDE desktop environment and the nice collection of handpicked applications.
