Five or More is an open source piece of software specifically designed for the GNOME desktop environment. It provides users with an addictive puzzle/board game where players must remove colored balls from a board, simply by forming lines of the same shape and color.

A port of Color Lines

The fact of the matter is that Five or More is a port of the once popular Color Lines game developed only for the Microsoft Windows operating system. The player's main objective will be to created color lines as often and fast as possible, with the ultimate goal of getting the highest score.

The game is played on a 9x9 grid

A new game always starts with three different marbles, placed random on a 9x9 grid. To play the game you will have to click on one of the three available objects and move them to an empty box. Three more pieces, which are displayed on the game's toolbar, are automatically added to the board each time you make a move.

You can only move pieces that are not blocked by other objects. A part of the game's strategy is to always watch which marbles are coming up next, so you can make the appropriate move and create lines of five or more objects of the same color and shape.

Each line of five or more similar object is automatically removed from the board, resulting in points. To move the trapped pieces, you will have to first move one of more objects that block its path.

The game ends automatically

The game ends automatically when the board is filled with marbles and you have no more moves, prompting users with the score board. You can start a new game by clicking the "Start a new game" button that will be available on the bottom right corner of the window.

From the Preferences dialog, you can change the object's theme (balls, dots, gumball, shapes), the background color, the board size (small, medium, large), as well as to enable or disable fast moves. There's no time limit or pause functionality implemented at this time.
