By default, Sizzle supports the jQuery, MooTools, DOMassistant, Dojo and Prototype frameworks.

Since it was first included with the jQuery core, Sizzle was updated to keep pace with modern technologies and currently supports Unicode characters and the CSS 3 standard.

If your interested in adding it to your own library as a CSS selector engine, Sizzle is written in vanilla JavaScript and doesn't have any external dependencies.

It is also namespaced properly and will not mess up your code after you add it.

What is new in this release:

  • This is the first version of Sizzle that has been published to npm by the jQuery team.

What is new in version 2.2.0:

  • This is the first version of Sizzle that has been published to npm by the jQuery team.

What is new in version 2.1.1:

  • This is the first version of Sizzle that has been published to npm by the jQuery team.

What is new in version 1.10.1:

  • Fixed:
  • Iframe reload should not affect Sizzle.

What is new in version 1.8.3:

  • Fixed :focus selector with elements that have a tabIndex !== -1.

What is new in version 1.8.2:

  • Do away with child selector cache until we can do something more widespread.

What is new in version 1.5.1:

  • Makes sure that sibling selectors (+,~) in some edge cases don't leave modification behind in the DOM.

What is new in version 1.0:

  • Enforce that escaped selectors aren't accidentally used (need to access the leftMatch to do so). In doing so found a bug with the leftMatch code that was breaking some selectors.

Requirements:

  • JavaScript enabled on client side
