Yoper KDE3

Yoper KDE3 is a special edition of the independent Yoper Linux operating system that features the old-school KDE3 desktop environment. It has been specifically designed to be used on computers with old and semi-old hardware components.

It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live CD

Even if it’s designed for i686 processors, the distribution comes as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that run well on both 32-bit and 64-bit computer platforms. The ISO image fits perfectly on a CD disc, but it can be deployed to a USB thumb drive.

Runs in live mode, but it can be permanently installed

By default, the Live CD ISO image will automatically start the live system, allowing you to choose between the live or installation mode. Choose the live mode if you just want to try the operating system and don’t want to make modifications to your computer’s drive.

KDE3 looks great, seems pretty fast

As mentioned, this is a special edition of Yoper Linux that uses KDE3 as the default and only graphical desktop environment. It features a taskbar located on the upper part of the screen, which has been designed to allow you to easily navigate the main menu, cycle between the two virtual workspaces, as well as to interact with running programs and essential system functions.

Includes mostly KDE-specific applications

Being built around the KDE desktop environment, the distribution includes mostly KDE-specific applications. Among some of the most popular ones, we can mention the Konqueror web browser, KSnapshot screen capture program, digiKam photo management software, Kopete multi-protocol instant messenger and K3b CD/DVD burning software.

Mozilla Firefox and XMMS are also included

In addition to the above, the KDE3 flavor of Yoper Linux includes the Mozilla Firefox web browser, XMMS audio player, as well as the SMPlayer video player open-source applications.
