TurnKey MySQL Live CD is an open source and free Debian-based operating system that acts as an appliance for deploying dedicated MySQL servers with minimum effort and without paying for expensive products.

MySQL is an open source relational database management system (RDBMS) used on millions of Linux server installations It is a fast, robust, stable, easy-to-use, true multi-threaded and multi-user SQL database server.

Key features include a MySQL server configured to accept connection from all hosts, while listening on port 3306 TCP, the phpMyAdmin software for easy management of MySQL databases, and a Webmin module for configuring the MySQL server.

The phpMyAdmin administration front-end listens on port 443 and uses the latest SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technologies. The default username for the MySQL, Webmin, SSH and phpMyAdmin components is root.

This TurnKey appliance is available for download as Live CD ISO images, which are compatible with the 64-bit and 32-bit instruction set architectures and designed to let users try the operating system without installing anything on their computers.

In addition to the Live CDs, the appliance is also available for download as virtual images for the Xen, OpenStack, OpenVZ, OVF and OpenNode virtualization formats directly from the project's homepage.

It can be easily installed to a local disk using the Live CD ISO images. The entire installation process is text-based and requires users to only format the disk and choose where to install the boot loader.

Immediately after the installation process, the first boot configuration wizard allows you to enter a password for the root (system administration) account, as well as to set a new password for the MySQL 'root' account.

Optionally, users can initialize the TurnKey Backup, Migration, Domain Management and Dynamic DNS services. Don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the SSH, SFTP, MySQL, Webmin, Web Shell and phpMyAdmin services.
