TurnKey MoinMoin Live CD is an open source software appliance specifically tailored for people who are looking for a simple, easy-to-use and free solution for deploying dedicated MoinMoin servers with minimum effort and as fast as possible.
MoinMoin is an open source, web-based and easy to use Wiki engine developed in Python, and using flat folders and files, instead of a database. The appliance is based on the Debian GNU/Linux operating system and includes all of the upstream MoinMoin configurations, which are installed by default in /var/www/moin/mywiki.
Key features include the powerful FCKeditor HTML text editor, Apache WSGI for increased performance, spell checker with English dictionary, UTF-8 character encoding, as well as the rightsidebar theme and the MoinMoin logo.
In addition, the appliance comes with out-of-the-box support for secure connections via the latest SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technologies, a Postfix mail server, bound to localhost, for sending emails to users, as well as Webmin modules for configuring the Postfix and MySQL servers.
It is available for download as Live CD ISO images that are fully compatible with the 64-bit (amd64) and 32-bit (i386) instruction set architectures, and can be used for local installations of the TurnKey MoinMoin appliance.
In addition to the Live CDs, this TurnKey edition is also available for download as virtual machine images for the OpenStack, OpenVZ, OVF, Xen and OpenNode virtualization technologies, directly from the project's homepage (see above).
While the default username for the Webshell, SSH, Webmin and MySQL components is root, the default MoinMoin username is admin. Users will be able to set up a new password for the root (system administrator) account during the first boot configuration process.
It is also a must to enter a valid email address and a new password for the MoinMoin 'admin' account. Don't forget to write down the IP addresses and ports of the active services for this appliance, which will be displayed at the end of the installation.
